Child Tax Credit

One of the most significant refundable credits for American citizens is the Child Tax Credit or “CTC”. The CTC is also the highest refundable credit that can be received from the US as an American living in Israel. The CTC is relevant in cases where both the parent and the children are Americans.

As of 2023, the maximum refundable credit for Americans who are residents of Israel is $1,500 per year until their dependent child reaches the age of 17. This means that over 17 years, the credit could amount to $25,500 (close to 100,000 NIS!).
